EVERYTHING IS GEOMETRY!

Hello little geometric!馃専

In the previous day, we were talking about. space. So, in today’s entry I want to talk about "Geometry" Have you ever heard of geometry?

Many times, when we say the word geometry, we associate it with formulas, areas and figures, but... GEOMETRY IS EVERYWHERE! And even if we don’t realize, all around us, it’s geometry!

As throughout this blog we will talk about aspects related to geometry, this session will be dedicated to know what are some of the basic concepts of geometry.

First of all... What is a geometric object?

A geometric object is defined as a mathematical object does not have to be a real object, it is a mathematical idea that arises in our thinking.

馃幉Challenge!

My favorite place is shaped like...

  1. Think of your favorite place in the world. It can be real or imaginary: your room, a little house in the park, a doorman for the playground, your grandmother’s house, a toy store, a place on holiday...
  2. Close your eyes and imagine that you are there.  What do you see? What is around you? How are things? What form have?
  3. Now draw that place... using only geometric figures. Use triangles, rectangles, circles, ovals, trapezes, cubes... everything you know. Remember! It doesn’t have to look perfect, just represent what you imagine using shapes.
  4. And write a short description:

  • Why is this your favorite place?
  • What forms did you use to draw it?
  • Which was the hardest to represent?

It may not be something you think about every day, but....

What is Geometry for?

Geometry is not only good for getting good grades. It is used for...

  • Design video games and animations
  • Create beautiful, resilient buildings
  • Make maps, GPS and plans
  • Draw, paint and create art
  • Play sports and move through space without stumbling
  • And even to organize your room furniture!
Have you ever wondered if geometry can be considered an art form? In this video, you'll discover how geometric shapes and forms can inspire amazing works of art.

馃挱FINAL ACTIVITY

Great job, little Shape Hunters!馃

You've just discovered that geometry is not just in books, it's in your home, your school, your games... even in your imagination!

Keep your eyes wide open and your pencils ready, because the world is full of hidden shapes waiting for YOU to find them.

Next time you look at a door, a lamp or even a cookie... ask yourself: what shape is this?

Because when you learn to see with geometry goggles, everything becomes a little more magical.

See you in the next geometric adventure!馃З
Bye!
