Space Explorers... in the classroom!馃殌
Hello little geometric!馃専
Today we are going to start an exciting journey through the world of geometry, but before we start drawing figures or building shapes... ¡ We need to understand where we live, play and move! That magical place is called SPACE.

What is space?
Imagine that space is like a big invisible stage where everything happens. In it are you, your house, your school, your toys and even your ideas when you close your eyes and dream. This space is different for each person, because everyone feels and understands it differently. ¡ It’s like having a personal magic glasses that make us see the world to our way!
Objective + Subjective = Your space!
Imagine you’re in your room...
- There are things that everyone sees the same: the table, the lamp, the window.
- But there are things that you perceive differently: "my bed is the most comfortable place in the world" or "my Favorite corner is next to the shelf".
- So space has an objective part (the one that everyone sees alike) and a subjective part (the one you feel and you live).
What is spatial perception?
Very simple: it is like our "superpower" to understand space. Since we are babies, we use our senses to know the world:
- We play
- We see
- We listen
- And we even move.
All this helps us to know where things are, how they are and how we move between them. It is like a radar that guides us!
A funny example:
Think about when you play hide and seek. How do you know where to hide or how to get to "the house" before everyone else? You use your spatial perception. You imagine the space in your head, you calculate distances, corners, obstacles... and you move like a lightning!
Why is it important in class?
Developing a good spatial perception will help you:
- Don’t get lost in the school
- Understand maps and plans.
- Solving mathematical problems.
- Make drawings more realistic...
馃攳Did you know that...?
Experts say that this skill develops very quickly during the first years of life, and that the more you play, move and observe, the better your spatial perception will be.
馃幉Activity! "The secret map of the classroom"
Draw a map of your class, marking where the tables are, the blackboard, the trash can, the window...
Then, make a route for a classmate to arrive from the door to his or her site, without stepping on imaginary lava puddles!
Objective: to develop the visualisation and understanding of space in a fun way.
That's all for today, little space explorers!
I hope you've learned a lot about what space is and how we understand it.
But most of all, I hope you've had as much fun reading this as I had writing it for you!
Remember, everything we see, touch, and feel is part of space, and our minds and bodies work together every day to help us understand it a little more.
Keep watching, keep exploring, and keep discovering the amazing geometry hidden all around us!
