Hello guys!

Today we are going to deal with two fundamental concepts in geometric learning: the perimeter and the area.
What are the perimeter and area?
Perimeter: It is the total length of the contour of a geometric figure. In other words, it is what measures the outer edge.
Example: If we measure the sides of a rectangular table and add up its four sides, we get its perimeter.
Area: It is the measure of the inner surface of a figure. It indicates how much space it occupies.
Example: The area of a rectangular carpet tells us how many square meters it covers on the floor.
Common mistakes that students make (and how to prevent them)
- Confusing perimeter with area: Think that the perimeter "fills" the figure.
- Solution: Use manipulative materials such as ropes (perimeter) and squares (area).
- Adding sides without measuring correctly:
- Solution: Teach to estimate first, measure accurately later.
- Forget the units:
- Solution: Reinforce the use of units (cm, m2...) and use real examples (land).
Areas
When we talk about area, we mean how many square units fit within a figure. But of course, not all figures are the same, so each has its own mathematical formula to calculate its surface. Here I leave you a table that summarizes the main formulas of areas.

Let's Practice!
Once seen and explained everything you need to know about the perimeter and areas, I have prepared a presentation of Canva, in which you can see in summary form and with examples all seen, so then you can do the activities that I also prepared.
To finish, here I leave you a video summary of what we have worked today. Videos are a great tool that allows you to learn in a much more visual and fun way.
Now, after reviewing everything, I leave you this activity, in which you will have to determine the area and perimeter of the following figures.
I hope that you have learnt a lot!
See you in the next geometric adventure!🧩
